Thoroughly brush hair to remove surface dust and dirt that may have built up over the day; do a quick warm water rinse under the faucet or sprayer so hair is damp all over.
** Before pre-rinsing your hair: Light some candles, put on some relaxing music and start the water for a mineral bath for a nice soak during your hair treatment--why not get the dual benefits of really unwinding after a stressful week?

Tip the bag with the olive oil so you can snip off a very small corner at the bottom of the sandwich bag, or puncture it with a pin so you can easily control the amount of oil released. Squeeze a small amount of oil into the palm of your hand, rub palms together and gently apply to the ends of hair, one section at a time. (Place sandwich bag back in warm water while applying the oil to your hair so it stays warm, keeping clipped corner upwards.)
Repeat, moving up toward the scalp covering 2-3" lengths at a time, gently working the oil into your hair until it has all been well coated. There is no need to apply the oil directly to the scalp as your natural body oils will probably already be doing a good job of protecting the roots of your hair.
Gently comb through hair to make sure oil is well distributed to all strands, then cover head with a shower cap (or wrap with plastic shopping bag and clip in place).
Make sure your towel is large enough to easily wrap turban style around your head, completely soak it in very hot water and wrap it around your shower cap--then slide into the tub and relax for half an hour while the heat from the towel does it's magic on your hair!
After a half an hour--more or less, timing to the second isn't critical--shampoo and condition your hair as normal and let it air dry. You will be pleased with the softness and shine of your hair after this simple, but effective, treatment! Repeat weekly for badly damaged hair, but try to include a hot oil treatment as part your hair care routine at least once a month--for your own enjoyment at least, whether your hair needs it or not!
